Report(s):
[31 Jul 2017] DATOS staff are currently in Bogor, Indonesia, where from 24-28 July they delivered training for 22 tuberculosis reference laboratory professionals on laboratory quality management systems tailored to tuberculosis laboratories, using the Global Laboratory Initiative (GLI) tool developed through the Stop TB partnership. A follow-up Training of Trainers (ToT) course is in progress (30 July – 01 August), where 12 selected participants from the first course are gaining practical skills in providing training on quality management systems and the GLI tool in order to cascade the knowledge through the Indonesian tuberculosis laboratory system. Both courses have been organized by the KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in Indonesia, under the USAID-funded Challenge TB program, and supported by the National Tuberculosis Program and Ministry of Health of Indonesia.
The first training course focused on the 12 quality system essentials of the laboratory quality management system, along with extensive use of the GLI tool through activities designed to familiarize the laboratory managers with the tool and how it can be applied practically by their staff and colleagues. At the end of the training, the laboratories prepared action plans to start with implementation in their laboratories. This will help them to implement a quality management system and meet the End TB Strategy objective 12: The NTRL of high-burden TB countries should be ISO 15189 accredited by 2020.
The ToT course gives participants skills on themes such as learning mechanisms, adult learning and training techniques, and development of training materials, along with communication, listening and presentation skills. Participants are actively engaged through exercises and role-plays, and the training is consolidated when they develop microteaching sessions, which they deliver to the group for their feedback.
This practical training will be taken forward through the training of staff from further tuberculosis laboratories in the Indonesian system, to ensure eventual implementation of quality management systems at all levels. Source: //blog.datos-advice.nl/#post32

Title: LQMS training Indonesia
Code: D16-21
Date: November 2016
Location: Indonesia
Client: World Health Organization Country Office of Indonesia
Type of services:
Provision of a three-day course for 23 laboratory staff on laboratory quality management and the use of the LQSI tool.
Report(s):
[29 Nov 2016] From 21 to 25 November we provided a training for 23 laboratory staff from all over Indonesia to introduce the concept of quality management.
WHO Indonesia and the Ministry of Health asked DATOS to provide a short introductory training on quality management. This training was combined with a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) training provided by Professor Patrick Reading of the WHO Collaborating Center for Reference and Research on Influenza in Melbourne, Australia.
Participants came from 15 provinces in Indonesia and were given an introduction to the concept of quality, the importance of quality management and how the LQSI tool can help to implement a quality management system.
Participants also were given a demonstration of RT-PCR for influenza and a number of lectures on GLP. During this training it became clear to the participants that quality management and good laboratory practice go hand in hand and actually reinforce each other. Source: //blog.datos-advice.nl/#post16
